VISION The vision for IYM came over a period of several years. While in a ministry that provided youth programs containing evangelism, discipleship and leadership training to local fundamental Bible churches, it became clear that there were churches that needed more than a program to help with their youth ministry, and lacked the leadership to do so. Many of these churches have small congregations and limited finances sometimes barely able to support the pastor. In some of the churches the pastor may work a part-time job besides doing the work of the church. All this leaves the pastor very busy and that may cause the youth program to be on the bottom of the list of priorities. When an adult does step forth to help with the youth ministry, they may wander in the dark as to what resources to use and where to find them. Frustration sets in and the youth usually do not receive the teaching that is needed, and the evangelism and discipleship ministry is non-existent. Adult leadership may change constantly and the youth of the church become uninterested in spiritual things. A youth pastor is generally out of the question for these churches due to financial constraints. Large churches that have a youth pastor also face challenges when the youth pastor resigns or fails at his job. Sometimes the youth pastor fails to train the leadership to continue the youth ministry and it may fall apart. What then is a church to do if they want to reach and disciple the youth of the church and community? What happens if the youth pastor suddenly is gone? Meet Interim Youth Ministries, Inc.
MISSION STATEMENT IYM exists to come “alongside” the church to train and equip youth leaders to run a Christ-centered youth ministry.
SERVICES Provide leadership training with ongoing seminars and/or weekend retreats. Provide resources and ideas for youth retreats, teaching material, Christian service projects and a wide variety of other needs. Provide evangelism and discipleship training for your teens and leaders. Provide guidance in the hiring process of a youth pastor. Provide a speaker for church youth events.
IYM Purpose/Guidelines All across the United States and around the world there are churches that need help with their youth ministry.IYM exists to come “alongside” the church to train and equip youth leaders to run a Christ-centered youth ministry. NO EXISTING YOUTH MINISTRY OR A STRUGGLING YOUTH MINISTRY - Depending upon staff availability, the IYM specialist will come "along side" the youth program and train it's leadership. The goal of this method is to build a Christ-centered youth ministry. After IYM believes the leadership is capable of keeping the youth ministry vibrant and spiritually growing, we do not just abandon the church. IYM believes that periodical visits and training is a vital part to keep the leadership fresh and trained on the current youth culture. LOSS OF A YOUTH PASTOR – Interim Youth Ministries can assist the church in the hiring process of the next youth pastor as well as provide vital training for the leadership that has been left behind. This provides for a smooth and consistent transition of the youth ministry and helps the church maintain integrity of the ministry. LEADERSHIP TRAINING – Interim Youth Ministries can provide leadership training for youth leaders of the church by various methods customized to the needs of the church. IYM will sit in on a current youth ministry meeting and provide an evaluation of the ministry. Then IYM staff will meet with the leadership and make recommendations of the type of training that should be done. Input from the Pastor and church leaders are a vital part for determination. After training it is recommended that the IYM staff visit the youth ministry meeting after a short period to do additional training if needed or make final recommendations. WEEKEND LEADERSHIP RETREATS – Interim Youth Ministries will meet with the youth leadership and discuss the type of training or subjects they would like covered. Subjects can range from the current youth culture, dealing with wrong behavior, time management, evangelism and discipleship ministry. Other training subjects can include drama ministry, outreach ministry and student leadership. We gear the weekend toward the needs of the leadership. During the retreat weekend the IYM staff will encourage the church leadership, pray with them and share God’s word with them. IYM can arrange the facility if the church prefers or will work with the facility that the church chooses. YOUTH RETREATS – Interim Youth Ministries can help the church leadership plan a youth retreat and provide the speaker. IYM staff tailors the weekend retreat to the needs and desires of the church. IYM will help the church leadership or will plan and oversee the retreat. Retreats can be a Fall Challenge, Winter Snow Camp, Spring Getaway or a Summer Retreat Weekend. Interim Youth Ministries believes that the youth of the church are valuable assets to the church’s overall wellbeing. IYM can help your church develop its leadership and youth ministry to reach its full potential. IYM believes that the youth ministry needs to be built around our Lord Jesus Christ and God’s Word as the center of the ministry. Programs, leaders and youth pastors come and go, but Christ is the one solid foundation that all ministry needs to center around. Evangelism and discipleship are a vital part in having a successful vibrant youth ministry, and IYM stands ready to help your church reach its fullest potential for the youth ministry.
